Debtors PRISON

"Well the collection company files a small claims lawsuit. If you fail to appear, or file a responsive pleading, or make some other common legal mistake, or simply have the collection agency claim they served you by mail (allowed in many cases where the claims are not large) when they really didn't because you've moved, (were) in the hospital at the time, or they just flat out lied in their affidavit of service, the court can hold you in contempt of court. And that's when the sheriff deputies or state troopers may show up at your door to place those handcuffs on you, sick, disabled or whatever."

FORBES Magazine: The Great American Social Security Lie

I repeat....from FORBES Magazine no less: The Great American Social Security LIE:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2012/04/24/the-great-american-social-security-lie/
....."aging workforce"........... "while legitimately representing a small piece of the problem, fails to explain the lion’s share of the crisis" .... "It is a lie concocted by those seeking to fulfill Wall Street’s eternal quest to get its sweaty palms on trillions of dollars of our retirement cash, allowing them to expand their casino operations beyond their wildest imaginations—and Wall Street has a very healthy imagination." ...."I should point out that this result of crushing income inequality does not have the same effect on Medicare due to the fact that the tax we pay towards Medicare applies on all earnings with no caps. Thus, a dollar of income is being taxed for Medicare no matter whose pocket has possession of that dollar."

A Republican Brain on Republican Thinking

"...I further argue, you realize that there are some psychological traits that tend to accompany conservatism - especially in its current form in the United States - that naturally conflict with the nuanced, uncertainty-laden thinking style of scientists and liberals alike (members of the "reality based community"). These traits include authoritarianism - seeing the world in black and white, intolerant of uncertainty - but also a lack of openness to experience (a personality trait), a higher need for closure and so on."

"The sad thing here is that the new research could lead to greater tolerance and understanding - and could even help us depolarize, but that won't happen unless we all bother to understand and talk about what it does - and doesn't - mean."

Millions Against Monsanto: The Food Fight of Our Lives

"If you put a label on genetically engineered food you might as well put a skull and crossbones on it." -- Norman Braksick, president of Asgrow Seed Co., a subsidiary of Monsanto, quoted in the Kansas City Star, March 7, 1994 ...... ""Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA's job." -- Phil Angell, Monsanto's director of corporate communications, quoted in the New York Times, October 25, 1998

"Monsanto recently threatened to sue the state of Vermont if legislators there pass a GMO labeling bill."

"If passed, the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act will require mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods and food ingredients, and outlaw the routine industry practice of labeling GMO-tainted foods as “natural.”
